Staff Nurse in Dublin

As a member of the front line Nursing team, the Staff Nurse in Theatre will be required to work as a member of the nursing team in Theatre and in the hospital and perform duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

The Staff Nurse will demonstrate excellent clinical skills, quality patient care initiatives and facilitate effective interpersonal communication with colleagues in the Theatre and the hospital.

He/She will deliver comprehensive Theatre nursing care to patients using evidence-based practice and regulating resources to ensure stability of care.

Responsibilities:

  • - To support the CNM2 and CNM1 in the management of Theatre;
  • - The Staff Nurse will support the clinical Nurse Manager in the management of the Patient Area;
  • - Provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care in accordance with Hospital Policies, Procedures and guidelines and scope of nursing practice framework;
  • - Contribute as a key member of the Multidisciplinary team in the provision of holistic care of patients, acting with professionalism at all times;
  • - Deliver skilled clinical care to Theatre Patients and participate in monitoring, planning, delivering and evaluating individualized patient care, ensuring a patient centered focus;
  • - Assist in the set of standards, development of new policies and procedures and contribute to the provision of quality care to patients;
  • - Work closely with nursing colleagues, administration, health care assistants and student nurses and visiting clinical students;
  • - Deal with patients and families in a polite, supportive manner, being aware of the stress illness can cause them;
  • - Ensure that patient privacy is respected and that the self-esteem of the patient is assured and maintained at all times having regard to the Mission, Philosophy and Ethical Code;
  • - Follow nursing Policies on Documentation of Nursing care on the Meditech Patient Information system and the maintenance and safe custody of patient records;
  • - Liaise with and ensure good relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team in the hospital;
  • - Take responsibility for coordinating the care of patients in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager;
  • - Assist in the Supervision and delegation of patient care to nursing support staff as appropriate;
  • - Observe and comply with Hospital Policies and Procedures and Health and Safety regulations;
  • - Be responsible for the safe administration and custody of medications.

Requirements:

  • Nursing degree;
  • Have at least two years recent relevant post-registration nursing experience;
  • Full time experience or equivalent hours part-time in an acute hospital setting;
  • Minimum of one year’s nursing experience in theatre nursing;
  • At least 1 - 2 years of relevant full-time work experience;
  • You are motivated to gain new work experience and to work in a multidisciplinary team;
  • Professional expertise;
  • Very good knowledge of the English language, spoken & written (at least B2);
  • You are good at handling stressful situations and flexible to adapt yourself to your new working environment;
  • A recognised post-registration nursing course- Higher Diploma or Post Grad course in Peri-operative nursing is desirable or be in pursuit of same;
  • Hold an up to date Basic Cardiac Life Support course or be in pursuit of same;
  • Possess well-developed organizational and communication skills;
  • Competence in the use of information technology.
